Dr. Jill Davis is a professor of education and teacher educator in Oklahoma. She specializes in early childhood and elementary education, teaching a variety of courses and mentors current and future educators. She also coordinates a graduate program for teachers seeking certification on alternative pathways, working to expand and diversify the teacher pipeline.

Jill spent 13 years as an early childhood educator, teaching pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and a multi-age kindergarten and first grade class. During her time in the classroom, she earned National Board Certification in Early Childhood and was recognized as the Oklahoma Early Childhood Teacher of the Year, Teacher of the Year for her school, and a finalist for the district Teacher of the Year.

Jill holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Northeastern State University and earned her doctorate degree in Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum with a focus on Early Childhood Education from the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa.

Her research, writing, and presentations focus on teacher advocacy, education policy, trauma-responsive practices, early childhood mathematics, and constructivist teaching practices. She is currently researching the advocacy experiences of graduate students seeking certification on alternative pathways. Additionally, she co-authored the book From Breakdowns to Breakthroughs: 10 Simple Strategies to Reduce Disruptions and Create Trauma-Responsive Classrooms with her colleague and dear friend, Dr. Katie Fields.

Jill lives in Oklahoma with her husband, Joe, and their teen daughter, Sylvia. Her adult son, Alden, lives nearby. Their two dogs, Paisley and Remington (Remy) ensure there’s never a dull moment. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crafting, playing board games, solving crossword puzzles, growing her plant collection, gardening, and indulging in far too many binge-worthy TV shows.
